Water To Wine?… Why???

Ever think about why Mary said to the servants at the wedding feast at Cana Galilee “whatever he tells you to do you do it’, when He told her “Woman my hour (time) is not yet come”? Ever wonder how she dared to override Jesus’ decision? Well I have, and one day while I was thinking about this portion of scripture, a proverbial light bulb went off in my head…

Let’s take a look at the scriptures:

John 2:1-9
And on the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there;
2 and both Jesus and His disciples were called to the marriage.
3 And when they lacked wine, the mother of Jesus said unto Him,“They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said unto her, “Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come.”
5 His mother said unto the servants, “Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.”
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, holding twenty to thirty gallons apiece.
7 Jesus said unto them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And He said unto them, “Draw some out now, and bear it unto the governor of the feast.” And they took it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, not knowing from whence it had come (but the servants who drew the water knew), the governor of the feast called the bridegroom

When Jesus said those words to his mother, I believe Mary must have done a mental double take… What! “His time is not yet come???” He came from out of time! Before time was, He IS! HE created time, and if any one could do and undo outside of time he could… This thought process and the expression of it; I believe unlocked the door to the miracle on that day!

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that HE IS, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Jesus throughout scripture always overrode the sequence and the principle, and the process of time, for all who grasped the revelation that far from being subject to time, he created and controls time and that before time was He IS;and every thing in his Kingdom at His word IS. And that’s why wine ‘IS’ when he calls it so.

This was the same principle employed by the Syrophoenician woman:

Matthew 15:21-28

21 Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
23 But He answered her not a word.
And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Now faith is… She perceived the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not yet seen!

So from the scriptures we see that when that which takes time to produce, runs out at a critical time, that is not the time to despair or run helter-skelter, but a time to look to the One who from ‘out of time’ controls time, The One who dwells in timelessness and to whom, and in whose kingdom everything ‘IS” because they had been created from before the foundations of the earth, so that at His word, that which is has been made null in subjection to finity, ‘Be-comes’ and ‘IS’ at his command unto infinity, independent of the laws of chronicity and the passage of time… God said, and there was!

Now faith is… Anyone who in his or her life, in a time of need, grasps what ‘God said’, they immediately enter into what God has done, as activated by His command…

So no matter what kind of wine has run out during your feast of life, like Mary, say to the servants - “Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.” so that as He speaks to the water in your vessels, i.e. The Word in your heart, ‘And it was wine’…

Hebrews 1:14

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

He is able to override time and make everything that ‘was not’ in your life,in my life, ‘IS’

Peace…
